Naval Station Pearl Harbor was combined in 2010 with Hickam Air Force Base to form Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. NS Pearl Harbor is located near Honolulu, Hawaii. Only twelve joint bases were created as a result of the 2005 Base Closure and Realignment Commission, making NS Pearl Harbor part of a select group. Naval Station Pearl Harbor is home to the United States Air Force 15th Wing which provides tactical and strategic airlift capability to the Pacific Air Forces and Air Mobility Command operating the C-17 Globemaster III. Naval Station Pearl Harbor provides shore support and docking ability to surface ships and submarines. Housing at NS Pearl Harbor includes over 4,000 housing units available for on-post housing. All military personnel must check in at the main housing office known as the Navy Aloha Center at 4825 Bougainville, Building 2652, Honolulu, HI. The housing office can be reached at 808-474-1820. Any Navy personnel who are stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe can have placement options for either Navy housing or Marine Corps housing but must first still register at the housing office. Waiting list times can be found at the Navy Region Housing Website or by calling the Aloha Center.
Hawaii Regional Bachelor Housing operates all bachelor housing on the island of Oahu. Facilities managed include Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Naval Magazine Pearl Harbor, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Wahiawa and the “Hale Kela Moku Housing” in Marine Corps Base Hawaii. With over 5,000 beds, the Hawaii Regional Bachelor Housing is one of the largest lodging facilities in the Pacific. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-576-9327.
Temporary housing is provided by the Navy Lodge for Naval Station Pearl Harbor and the Royal Alakai. Hotel reservations can be made prior to arrival. Fort Hickam Air Force Base also recommends that visitors make hotel reservations far in advance of arrival. The Royal Alakai can be reached directly at 808-421-6113. Off-post housing is also available, and available lists of homes for sale or rent are also provided by the Navy Aloha Center. The housing office can help with any applicable BAH rates that may help pay for rent and/or utilities.
